Murukku Recipe

Murukku is the one of the best snacks to eat and tasty preparation made mostly by south Indians. There are numerous festivals celebrated in India by the people from different religions. In almost every festival these recipes partake in their breakfast and dinner. Mentioned below are the ingredients needed and procedure for preparing Murukku.

Ingredients for preparing Murukku: 
  • two cups of rice (chawal)
  •  half cup of black gram split (urad dal)
  • one tsp of cumin seeds
  • one tsp of asafetida
  • salt to taste
  • quarter cup of white butter
  • coconut (narial) oil for frying   
Procedure for preparing Murukku: 
  • fry the rice until it turn it light brown
  • after that wash and soak the fried rice into the water for one hour
  • after that grind the rice into fine powder
  • as the same way, fry the urad dhal and make it cool and grind it into the fine powder
    mix the grinded rice and urad dhal and 
  • add asafetida and salt and mix evenly by adding water and also add cumin seeds
  • pour the butter into the blend for softness
  • the state of the blend in not so liquid and so solid
  • after that apply some oil into your palms and roll the blend into small round
  • put the round mixture into the Murukku maker vessel in the clean cloth
  • heat the oil in the pan in the large amount and put the shaped blend into the pan 
  • fry it until it turn into dark brown and crisp 
  • drain the oil and Murukku is ready to serve
