Women find themselves interested in cooking at an earlier or later stage in their life. Cooking their own food is hygienic than going out for food. In kerala people include more coconut ingredients in their cooking. One such is the red fish curry which is spicy and good in taste. Kerala is mentioned as god’s own country and people are interested in varieties in their food habits. People like to have spicy non vegetarian food as it is mouth watering, sweet smelling and tasty.
Ingredients:
400 gms fish pieces
Half cup chopped onion
Two tablespoon tamarind pulp
Half cup coconut milk
Half cup fresh grated coconut
Two dry red chilli
One tablespoon red chilli powder
One tablespoon soaked rice
One tablespoon cumin seeds
Two tablespoon coriander seeds
Half tablespoon turmeric powder
Two tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
Cooking Method:
- Add salt, turmeric powder and chilli powder to the fish pieces mix well and keep aside for 15 minutes.
- Take a pan add some oil and roast cumin and coriander seeds and then add dry red chillies, soaked rice and grated coconut.
- Grind the above roasted to a paste.
- Soak tamarind in half a cup of hot water.
- Heat oil in a pan and then add chopped onion and chopped ginger.
- Cook on a half flame till onions are golden brown.
- Stir in fish pieces and add two cups of water.
- Bring it to boil and then stir in coconut and spice paste.
- Mash tamarind dissolved in water to make a pulp.
- Strain the pulp and add to the gravy.
- Simmer for two minutes and finish with coconut milk.
- Add fish pieces and cook on a medium flame for 7-8 minutes or till the fish is done.
Now you can serve hot. The curry is mouth watering and people love to eat with rice.
